About Us

Granite City Chinchillas is based in Aberdeen, North-east of Scotland, United Kingdom and i am an established breeder with 20+ breeding chinchillas. I gained most of my knowledge from long standing well established award winning breeders and have been exhibiting my own youngsters since the 2004/5 season.
I started over 11 years ago with a pair of females as pets and over the years i have gained enough knowledge and understanding to build my own unit and increase my numbers to what i have today.
My Chinchilla herd consists of pure standards from some of the best UK Breeders all of which have won their own awards, one male is a double grandshow champion and reserve show champion and a lot of my own bred animals are 2nd generation of the same lines of the 2006 National Champion. My herd also consists of a Grandshow Champions and a Reserve Grandshow Champion as well as Best Young Standards and Best mutations. I also have a few females from Ritterspach USA lines and some stunning European bred females from France. In the last few years i have won many awards including a 2 x Reserve Show Champion and 3 x Grandshow Champion in England and Scotland - with my own bred standards and mutations. In the 2006 - 2010 seasons i have won over 100 ribbons. In the 2007/08 season i became a Main Show exhibitor in December 07, stepping up long before my novice status expired as i did so well in the special ribbons. I breed Pure Standards, Black Velvets, Wilson Whites (silvers, mosaics etc), Violets, Ultra Violets, Pink Whites as well as Beige.
I am a member of the National Chinchilla Society(UK) who welcome new members so please take the time to look up their website and possibly join for the small yearly fee, its definately worth it and their bi-monthly gazettes are full of very useful tips. I am also a member of the USAs Chinchilla Breeders Organisation and The Chinchilla Club (USA) and various UK and USA forums including Chinchilla World, Chinchillas Unlimited, Chinformative.
